Family is your #1 asset in life. Never take them for granted! Live each day to its fullest!
You take 1 step forward and 10 back. You spend your non working hours playing referee and trying to keep the peace. You want to run far far away from all the negative energy's in your life just to find a place to unwind and regenerate.
How much can a person take before they crack?
Wow... you know you are getting old when Cedar Point doesn't hold the same thrill for you that it did when you were 18 or 19 yrs. old! My brother is working at Cedar Point this summer so we had free tickets to take the kids (which was the only way it was affordable) to have a day of fun in the sun.
Holly was gung ho to go on almost every ride there but she ended up having to go on the rides for the most part with my brother as Justin can't due to his epilepsy, Sam wasn't interested in her feet leaving the ground, and Don wasn't feeling well. Thank god I didn't have to pay for all those tickets!!!!
The weather couldn't have been better for this trip, and we had a great visit with my mom and dad (as they have a new RV... which was also an interesting learning experience for all of us). They stayed at the RV park at Cedar Point and we stayed at the Breaker's express at the front of the cause way leading into the park. It was definitely worth taking the kids once but from now on I think I will stick to things that we can all participate in and actually enjoy as a family instead of having different levels of what is considered "fun". It was definitely a destination for the younger generation as it is nothing like I remember when I used to go every year when I actually enjoyed it in and didn't care about the cost of things ![]()
Remember high school when the only thing you had to worry about was geting your homework done and hanging out with friends (and trying to stay out of trouble with your parents so you wouldn't be grounded)?
As an adult there are days when I wish I was still that kid and didn't have the worry's and responsibilities that come with trying to raise teenager's in today's world!!!! They seem to think they know it all (and I'm sure I must have also but don't remember it that way) and that we don't know the pressure's they face daily. I know the educational system has changed (definitely not for the better in my opinion) especially when you have a high school teacher call home to tell you to remind your kid to wear holiday colors to school so they can get extra credit and not fail the quarter.... my question to them is what kind of education are you teaching them??? That it is ok to not study and turn in their homework to pass your class ??? I think not! If my kid needs that kind of extra credit then you aren't much of a teacher and she is old enough to know better as I have pounded it into her head often enough and if she chooses to not do it then the consequences are hers to live with!
Today's world is a hard one to live in and getting and keeping a job that allows you to make a decent wage to support a family are becoming harder and harder to find (not alone keep). What with the gas prices rising, unemployment, food prices going up I don't see this nation recovering for a long time to come. I wish I had the powers of the "charmed ones" to turn back time and know what I know now. I want the simpler life back when we had gas price wars that were under a buck, and the cost of things was less, the economy was good, and cars were made to last and your biggest worry was who you would be hanging out with and what you were doing on the weekend!
I wish my kids didn't have the pressures that are present now but I can't change that so my only hope is that they will wise up and buckle down cause otherwise they will have alot harder time of things than we did and do today!
Well... I guess it is time to update my blog since it has been awhile. We are all doing better this week. Last week was rough for me as Justin's bank made a 400.00 dollar error that really freaked me out and then the same day I came home from work to find out that Justin was at the tail end of having a seizure so 911 was the first thing I did followed by going back out the door to meet the ambulance at the hospital. Of course Justin's insurance hadn't gone into effect yet so that bill should be wonderful. He is ok for the moment but now he has to have an EEG and an MRI done when his insurance starts up.
Needless to say this kid has had more problems in his 19 years than he deserves!!! I just hope they will be able to give me an idea after the tests are done as to why he had a seizure and what we can do to help him remain seizure free (if he is diagnosed with a seizure disorder). Keep him in your prayers as we travel down this new and unknown path.
Other than that work is going good...getting ready for inventory the end of the month; it should be interesting as they do it while the store is open for business - hmmm never have I worked for someone that did inventory while open.
Circuit City is STILL screwing me over a year later by withholding my W-2 form... I have called 2x and the first time they told me I couldn't request a copy till the 18th so I called back then and I still have not gotten it in the mail... Go figure I usually have my refund back by now. I told my kids xmas was going to be delayed till March when I got my refund but now even that has been screwed up thanks to such a wonderful (NOT) former employer!!!!
Everyday I learn a little more to make me more comfortable in my new role as a Store Manager so that is cool. It really isn't work in a mental capacity as it is in a physical one. My hands will never be female hands again :-( they are so dry and cracked from cardboard boxes and broken nails that are so short you wouldn't think you could break them any shorter (but you do anyways) and no amount of lotion helps. Plus I believe my carpal tunnel has gotten much worse in the past month so much so that the hands are always tingling and numb and hurt to the point of waking you up in the middle of the night so that you have to hang your arms over the side of the bed to get relief... will have to check in to it some more as I was diagnosed with C.T. back in 1994 but never had symptoms this bad till now. I think alot of it has to do with the SUPER GLUE they use to close up cardboard boxes that hold big heavy bottles of detergent and toilet paper as they don't want you using a box cutter to open them but the glue is so hard to pry up it kills the wrists. Needless to say they start to feel better about Monday night/Tuesday just to begin the process all over again on Wednesday (our Delivery day) of putting out more product on the floors.
If anyone knows of anything that can help carpal tunnel (I already have wrist braces) and/or extremely dry cracked skin I would appreciate any advice you have. Hope everyone is doing well in 2008!!! Talk to you soon.
