When we love the people around us, we want to do so much for them. Telling no to something they ask is so painful, yet with all the pressures of daily life, its sometimes extremely trying to do everything. I have faced it. I am facing it. I have realized through this time that one has to stay away from negativism. From words strongly portraying negativisim- but, however, never, impossible. Instead words like trying, always, trying, faith should be a part of our lives.
- Oh my God, I am stuck!!

When I started brushing snow off the car, I noted the nearly foot high pile of snow that had been shoveled off the driveway and onto the small lot where my car was parked. I did not think it would be that big a deal. Then, after I had let the car warm up for about half-an hour, I reversed the engine and lo, it skidded. Then began my ordeal. No matter how hard I tried, I could not get the car past that mound of snow. Apparently, the snow had frozen to ice and my car tires kept skidding. Each time I verred forward the tires screeched. I would reverese a little in the hope that this would dislodge whatever was keeping the tires from moving, but to no avail. I even tried shovelling the mound of snow that had built up in front of the vehicle, but I only had a small shovel meant for cleaning snow of cars, not shovelling snow and ice off the sidewalk. Finally, as if from nowhere a good samaritan popped up, he offered to drive the car out of the snow. I gladly obliged. And lo! within a few minutes the car was out. I thanked him and was finally able to get on my way. May God bless him!!

- First snowfall of 2008

Well, nothing really hip about this entry. Like a logbook entry I would say: This is to record that the first snowfall of 2008 occurred in the early hours of the 17th of December....well, its stopped now. Hoping to dig my car out...darn!!

- Chilly winds battering the midwest
-
The wind chill sent shivers down my whole body. As I came out of the University building and walked towards my car, I was hit on the face by a blast of icy cold wind. Instantly, I remembered a forecast that I had chanced upon on the radio the day before warning of Arctic type winds sweeping over the entire Midwest region of North America. Suddenly, the wind was gushing all over my face, and I almost felt like it would blow my cap away. Even after I reached the car, it was so cold as the car engine slowly warmed up. I somehow drove home, all the while my hands freezing. Even as I parked my car and prepared to get out, I couldn't feel the keys in my pocket- my fingers had gone numb. I have never experienced this severe a cold in the three years that I have been here. Checking the weather.com bulletin, I found that it was a bone-chilling -30 degrees Celsius outside. If you find it hard to imagine, consider this- yesterday it was a wonderful 15 degrees Celsius and bright sunshine. A drop of 45 degrees Celsius in temperature in a mere 24 hours!! That has got ot be one of the most severe weather changes ever!!
