Last quarter moon phase = best time for gardening
Last quarter moon phase = best time for gardening magnify

And I so much agree with old-time gardeners. I noticed that my seeds have almost 100% germination rate when I sow them in the middle of the last quarter moon phase week. New transplants have 99% more chance of surviving when transplanted in the same period and this moon phase also make new transplant more resistant to pests attack.

Last quarter moon phase started yesterday July 25th and will end on Aug 1th. This is the best period to prune your trees as well, specially fruit trees.

At the beginning I didn't believe of the relation between different moon phases and agriculture. Today, after listening to old time gardeners, I have proven myself it is True that agriculture do best when worked in conjuntion with the phases of the moon.

Furthermore.... old time gardeners say that everything that grows under the ground (sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, beets, cassava, yautia, garlic, onions etc) will do better if planted during First Quarter Moon. Then everything that grows from the ground up do best when planted in last quarter.

Have you experiment with this concept?

Look at the Snake I found!!

Look what I found near one of the natural wells I have in my farm-- her name is Boa Puertorriquena or Culebron. This is a pregnant female snake endemic of Puerto Rico and it is endangered. They eat mice, rats, small birds, lizzards & bats. The female does not lay eggs like other snakes, but instead she birth small snakes just like humans. This specie grows up to 6.5 feet and can be as wide as the arm of an adult man. Boa Puertorriqueña is harmless. They will bite only if attacked, but are non poisonous. I am glad and very honored to have them in this piece of land, as they help me control rodents. The 2 red arrows are pointing the head & the tail. I happened to take this close up picture at 2 feet away from her...but sure was not going to measure her. I want to think she is about 4.5 feet long x 2 wide. I then proceeded to push her (with a long stick) back to the woods, her environment.

How do you like her?

By the way... the water underneath her is one of the natural wells I am talking about. Water drains out naturally from under those roots in the picture. Ain't this neat? We have designated about 1 acre of land to these creatures. That part of our conservation area has never been touched by humans. It looks like a little rainforest :-)
