THE FIRST ANNUAL FATHER'S DAY AFFAIR..(June 18th , 2005). Sponsored by OG's N Service Association and supported by its affiliates and associates was held on San Julian and 5th Street. This event was well-received and marks the successful implementation of one goal( Fathers Day Affair) that the Association has promoted.
OG's N Service Association will continue its efforts to organize programs and projects that will be meaningful to the Downtown Commmunity known as SKID ROW.
The purpose and mission of OG'S N SERVICE ASSOCIATION is a follows:
PURPOSE
: To empower the men of the Downtown Area know as SKID ROW to uplift their social, economic and political situation through “self help”. To become a social vehicle and an exampleof improvement to all in the area of Downtownl.To assist in establishing projects and programs for men and children, such as Father’s Day and Cultural Enrichment Project for childrne ages 2 through 13.
To act as a social voice and advacate for men 40 years older.
MISSION STATEMENT:
The goal of OG’s N Service is establish an Association with the purpose of organizing men in the Downtown area, known as Skid Row, to act in their best interests instead of simply “re-acting”to their daily situatioons negatively.The Association would become a positive image: an example to all in the area, especially the children.
Under the leadership of men, 40 years and older, the Association can utilize the discipline, skills and wisdom necessary to succeed at organizing men to help themselves and transform themselves and succeed in the game of life.
This task is accomplished by organizing men to “sponsor and promote” events instead of merely standing in lines waiting for events and activities to occur.
To become a liaison between agencies, organizations and groups servicing the population.
MEN HELPING OTHER MEN!
