Part II
27 players made it to day 2 of the tournament. I had just above average in chippies. Probably have the easiest table though ... not sure if that is good or not.
A lot of action out of the gate, and then it slowed for a while. No real big hands to speak of -- got several small pots with a big pre-flop raise.
And then ...... the thunder rolled. I got KK in the SB. I had two in the pot in front of me with normal raise/call, so I re-popped with a min-raise. The original raiser went all-in, caller finally folded, I called. I was up against QQ. KK held and now I'm in the Top 5 of chips.
18 players left, watched a big hand with set over set at the other table. 15 players, AA just crushed AK.
I FINALLY got AA myself, in the BB of all places. 3 people in the pot ahead of me, so I raised 6x the BB. 2 called, ARGH! The flop came all clubs, and I had the Ac, so good for me. I checked, and so did the other 2 players. The turn was a club, so now I have the nuts. LOL
I bet half the pot, and got raised. Player #2 smooth called which confused me. I called. The river was a blank, no FH potential at all. I checked as if I was unsure what to do. Player #1 bet the pot, player #2 folded, and I went all-in --- got an instacall by the Kc. Doh! I really don't get the call unless he really thought I was bluffing ???
9 handed Final Table. I am still middle in chips. We got to 5 handed REALLY fast, and then I got hurt with TT vs JJ. I made up some ground with AK over AQ, but ultimately went out in 4th when I had a set of 5s, but got beat with a set of 9s.
4th will just have to do!
Now for the latest in my SIR series, the award winning strategy authored by me, the one and only. LOL
Motto: Thank you SIR, may I have another.
Memorial Day Texas Holdem NL Tournament, 5/22 & 5/23
Started with 450 players (whew), 5000 in starting chips, 1 hour blinds. Piece of Pie. I had 4 MONSTER hands to get me to Day #2, with the most awesome being this hand:
I have 7c8c in the hole, in the cutoff. 2 players had raised before me, pre-flop, so I just smooth called. BB called too. 4 players. The flop: 5c9c6c
LOL. Muhahahahahahahahahaha.
1st player bets the flop, 2nd player re-raises (a smallish suspicious raise), I take a bit to reluctantly call. The BB calls too ??? after checking the flop? The turn is a blank. The BB goes all-in. LOL. The other 2 players call very quickly. I ask for a count, get the pot all squared away, and raise player #2 (still had some left over) all-in. He insta-calls and shows the flopped set of 9s. The BB had AcKh (flush draw only), and the other player had a set of 6s. LOL
The river was a blank and boing, 3 players are gone.
27 of us left today, 1st place is 15K
doh!
It was an interesting week in the Public Markets.
I traded BLUD from last Friday. I played the airline stocks. I played SQNM when it got ridiculously hammered.
Now I am setting up for a big trade in MGM. It appears that a trading range is now set after the big news on Thursday, and we have earnings being announced after hours on Monday (5/4/09).
Time to pile in ........
Oh, and lest not forget. A wonderful trade from last week that I'm holding for a while: DRYS. Gotta love it.
I have a new name, at least I will have a new name come November this year.
My daughter is going to have a child, so I will be a grandfather at 43. LOL
So, after November, when everything goes well, you can call me G-Pa (Gee Paw).
LOL

6 seat Texas Holdem NL sngo on PoS.
Nice. Good players, not crazy stuff. But ........ I'm so tired of being card dead. Sigh.
I had to REALLY pick my spots, but I managed to get to 3 handed before SIR kicked in.
Bottom line: big cards are useless. I play playable hands, and it works for me very CONSISTENTLY. Over and over.
I got HU with a rather aggressive person, so I got good value on most of my hands. My AQ got outdrawn by A9. Of course. But ............. then I got a good double up with 77.
The last hand was just his Q8os push, and my call with J8 suited. I got a J so boing !
Ship it.
