I heard from a few friends recently asking what was going on because of the blog entry they finally read here has not been updated. Well, to be honest, I keep forgetting about this blog! And, I especially forgot about it when there was talk about Microsoft buying Yahoo. I was not about to let Microsoft ruin anything else of mine and I would've abandoned my space here in a heartbeat had that purchase gone through.
That being said, the update.....
Shortly after I wrote my last blog entry here, a major shift took place in my business. I retired from repairs permanently. After an interview with
USA Today that was related to my participation on the Entrepreneurial Panel,
ABC World News contacted me and I've had my 20 seconds of fame. (More info on that can be found at the MICE Press page located here:
http://mice.org/press.html.)
Through all that, I also announced that I decided to teach full time. MICE's website has been online since early 1997 and except for a few of the early years, I've pumped more money into it then I've gotten out. That has to change and this year marks my 10th year of being in business, so this is going to be the year it all changes!
My house mate walked off his job in Corporate America about three months ago - maybe longer - and he's always fancied himself a marketing guru. So, he came up with this brilliant plan to tie the 10th Anniversary to the launch of the new
eLearning portal where I will now be teaching online. He designed this incredible offer that will also allow our affiliates to make a lot of money during the launch time period. We've planned a professional press release and a whole lot of free bonuses.
Well, all that takes a
hellofalota work! I have to get the content of all three courses online and into the classroom interface. I have to generate the bonus offers. I have to design and create banners for our affiliates. I have to keep up with my current client commitments. I have to keep up with my personal obligations in the household (as in: dishes, laundry, housework, my turns for cooking, and so on). I have to keep putting up content on the website in terms of tutorials, video's, and such. And of course, I have to continue to support my students at the Ed2go classrooms.
Every day is filled to overflowing with things to do. All of which, right now, are not making any money - yet! (
I'm not complaining - just explaining why this is so important to me right now!)
Our launch and 10th anniversary celebration are all that matters to me right now. I've pumped every available dollar into this new launch. I've had to purchase an SSL certificate to secure the shop, paid for scripts and installations, and so forth just get this up and running.
The entire future of the company and my own personal income rests on this single event. In the meantime, I've started the
Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover (Baby Step 1, so far) and "
Murphy" came calling! Our
central air unit went out about three weeks ago during the last high heat wave. It really tested - and continues to test - our resolve to "
Get out of Debt" and never get into it again! We decided to literally sweat it out and wait to pay cash for the new unit. Having a hot office is not very conducive to working quickly nor efficiently!
So, to update those of you who still read this, this is where my time is spent. The launch will be coming up in the next three weeks and so it's crunch time. If you want to follow what we are doing, you can check out our website:
MICE Training and Education,
(Yes, we've even changed our name!) That's where it sits right now. I've not abandoned my "call" but right now, income and cash flow has to be generated in order to pursue anything else. So as they say, stay tuned.......
