New Meaning to Drill Baby Drill!
I haven't been posting much here because I've been on other social media like twitter, MySpace, and so on. But I'm repeating a message I posted on my MySpace blog because I've got to get it off my mind. (I've also cleaned it up a bit so it's Yahoo friendly!)

The AP has done and investigation of the environmental toll that hurricane Ike has caused.

Since many people believe I'm full of sh** on my environmental concerns with drilling and my support of Barack Obama on his push for alternative fuel sources, read this:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081005/ap_on_go_ot/hurricane_environment

A brief quote from the article:

"The AP's analysis found that, by far, the most common contaminant left in Ike's wake was crude oil — the lifeblood and main industry of both Texas and Louisiana. In the week of reports analyzed, enough crude oil was spilled nearly to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and more could be released, officials said, as platforms and pipelines were turned back on.
"

So those of you who support the new Republican Mantra of, "Drill Baby Drill" I have something I've been wanting to say that I really need to get out in the open.

Thank you, you selfish bastages for supporting the further damage of our planet and wildlife! And that includes you Gov. Sara Palin!

Greatest Daughter in the World!
I've been meaning to put this up for two days now! I am announcing to the entire Yahoo community that I have the greatest daughter and son-in-law in the world!

As you may know, our central air went out about a month ago (maybe two?) and since we are doing the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover, we refuse to replace the unit until we have cash to do it. So, I've been bearing it - or literally, sweating it out! Thankfully, it hasn't been TOO bad.

Well, my daughter Jaci and her hubby Cesar gave us two new window air conditioners to hold us over!

So that's why I have the greatest daughter and son-in-law in the world!

Jaci and Cesar, thank you again! I'm finally getting caught up on my work, my ankles have not swollen once since I put them in! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Update
I heard from a few friends recently asking what was going on because of the blog entry they finally read here has not been updated. Well, to be honest, I keep forgetting about this blog! And, I especially forgot about it when there was talk about Microsoft buying Yahoo. I was not about to let Microsoft ruin anything else of mine and I would've abandoned my space here in a heartbeat had that purchase gone through.

That being said, the update.....

Shortly after I wrote my last blog entry here, a major shift took place in my business. I retired from repairs permanently. After an interview with USA Today that was related to my participation on the Entrepreneurial Panel, ABC World News contacted me and I've had my 20 seconds of fame. (More info on that can be found at the MICE Press page located here:
http://mice.org/press.html.)

Through all that, I also announced that I decided to teach full time. MICE's website has been online since early 1997 and except for a few of the early years, I've pumped more money into it then I've gotten out. That has to change and this year marks my 10th year of being in business, so this is going to be the year it all changes!

My house mate walked off his job in Corporate America about three months ago - maybe longer - and he's always fancied himself a marketing guru. So, he came up with this brilliant plan to tie the 10th Anniversary to the launch of the new eLearning portal where I will now be teaching online. He designed this incredible offer that will also allow our affiliates to make a lot of money during the launch time period. We've planned a professional press release and a whole lot of free bonuses.

Well, all that takes a hellofalota work! I have to get the content of all three courses online and into the classroom interface. I have to generate the bonus offers. I have to design and create banners for our affiliates. I have to keep up with my current client commitments. I have to keep up with my personal obligations in the household (as in: dishes, laundry, housework, my turns for cooking, and so on). I have to keep putting up content on the website in terms of tutorials, video's, and such. And of course, I have to continue to support my students at the Ed2go classrooms.

Every day is filled to overflowing with things to do. All of which, right now, are not making any money - yet! (I'm not complaining - just explaining why this is so important to me right now!)

Our launch and 10th anniversary celebration are all that matters to me right now.

I've pumped every available dollar into this new launch. I've had to purchase an SSL certificate to secure the shop, paid for scripts and installations, and so forth just get this up and running. The entire future of the company and my own personal income rests on this single event.

In the meantime, I've started the Dave Ramsey Total Money Makeover (Baby Step 1, so far) and "Murphy" came calling! Our central air unit went out about three weeks ago during the last high heat wave. It really tested - and continues to test - our resolve to "Get out of Debt" and never get into it again! We decided to literally sweat it out and wait to pay cash for the new unit. Having a hot office is not very conducive to working quickly nor efficiently!

So, to update those of you who still read this, this is where my time is spent. The launch will be coming up in the next three weeks and so it's crunch time. If you want to follow what we are doing, you can check out our website: MICE Training and Education, (Yes, we've even changed our name!)

That's where it sits right now. I've not abandoned my "call" but right now, income and cash flow has to be generated in order to pursue anything else. So as they say, stay tuned.......
Answering the Counselor’s Call
Answering the Counselor’s Call magnify
If my subject line looks a bit familiar, it’s from The Matrix.

The Council was meeting with Zion’s military to discuss the impending doom when the squiddies broke through the walls and the Counselors called for a captain to volunteer to search for Morpheus’ ship - which had not reported in for quite some time. When no one volunteered, one of the Counselor’s asked again, "Will no one answer the Counselor’s call?"

(But if you saw the movie, then you know Captain Naiobi answered the call!)

Okay, so I’m not Captain Naiobi and we’re not in the Matrix. (Or, are we?) So what’s my point?

Well, for quite some time I’ve been a bit miserable inside. Couldn’t quite put my finger on it, just knew something wasn’t right within. I was sleeping way too much, having very bizarre dreams, eating my way to oblivion, and had lost my apparent zeal for living. I felt like I had nothing to look forward to anymore. Didn’t even like the work I was doing anymore. As my sister pointed out a lunch the other day, I had lost my passion.

As time went on, everything in my professional life seemed to literally DRY UP. To include my finances. In fact, it’s been over a month since I’ve made any money at all from my career endeavors.

On Monday, I had lunch with my Sis. After hearing my story of how things have gone over the past month, and my frustration with not finding a reason nor an answer to why this is happening, she looks at me and says, "Did you ever think that the Universe might be telling you that you’re on the wrong path?"

That was all it took! I started crying because she was right - it was the truth. I felt it in every molecule of my being.

I’ve had thoughts of what I want to be doing, and where I wanted to take my life. But this involved a total change in what I was doing for the past 20 years. A total shift. And there’s no guarantee it will even make any money for me. In fact, I can’t figure out how it would make any money at all! So, I pushed it back into the mental lock box of my brain and just kept putting one foot in front of the other in my daily life.

So, my Sis continued and asked me what it was I really wanted to be doing and my mental lock box spewed forth with a life devoted to metaphysical teaching and service. In short, a sort of "New Age" minister. I shared with her how I saw myself going back to school for my Doctorate in Divinity and going to hospitals as a "Holistic Minister" and helping people heal and reconnecting with their Source - or the God of their belief.

I also told her how I’d like to go to California and take a Feng Shui certification course so I could be a practicioner.

All of this is so far removed from what I do now, which is teach people about computers since retiring from PC repair. (You can see my almost revamped company website here if you’re so inclined:
http://mice.org)

My Sis then said, "Why don’t you put it out to the Universe and see what happens?" Which is the same advice I’ve given her repeatedly in the past!

So, this is my public declaration of "Putting it out to the Universe."

When we hear of people going into the conventional ministry, we say, "They’ve had a calling." Or, "God called them to service." Since my calling, so to speak, is not as conventional, I thought the quote from The Matrix was more appropriate.

I’m answering the Counselor’s call!

I’m not sure where this will lead me, how I’ll afford the education, or anything else connected with the decision. And right now I don’t need to. If this is truly where I’m headed, the details will work themselves out.

And as it was said in The Matrix, when the Commander Lock stated that he didn’t understand the decision of the Counsel to send a ship to find Morpheus, "Comprehension is not requisite for cooperation."

Namaste’,
Debbie
