I love reading-mostly romance novels, photography, scrapbooking, being outdoors & with family & friends.

April Reads...another great month

Another great month of reading, I noted the ARC's with the date they will be available

  1. THE TROUBLE WITH MOONLIGHT ARC, available June 2008 by Donna MacMeans, Historical, Rating B... an enjoyable read, it was not a story that drug me in. I really wish that Donna MacMeans had explored the heritage and world of the Nevidimi more thoroughly.

  2. RUNNING WILD ARC, available June 2008 by Sarah McCarty, Anthology, Rating: A+...the BEST anthology I have ever read! Sarah McCarty did an excellent job weaving her three passionate tales together, blending them to be read as one.

  3. ROUGH & READY, Viking II series by Sandra Hill, Time-travel, Rating: A

  4. DOWN & DIRTY, Viking II series by Sandra Hill, Time-Travel, Rating: A

  5. VIKING UNCHAINED, Viking II series ARC, available July 2008 by Sandra Hill, Time-Travel, Rating A...a light-hearted read, with an emotional depth that I was not expecting. Sandra Hill has truly outdone herself, writing a deeply emotional story, while keeping her trademark humor intact, which in no way detracts from the seriousness of the issues involved.

  6. FAST & LOOSE by Elizabeth Bevarly,Contemporary, Rating: A...a fun, light-hearted, read.

  7. BETWEEN THE SHEETS by Robin Wells, Contemporary, Rating: B+... really enjoyed the play between Max and Emma. I like how Robin Wells created them with such polar-opposite personalities. I did wonder throughout the book if it was just a coincidence that Emma shared the same surname of Jenna Jamison, a famous porn star, because I found it ironic.

  8. HOT by Julia Harper by Julia Harper, Contemporary, Rating C+...lots of potential, just didn't live up to it. Turner was a rather bland heroine and I found my self annoyed by her lack of logic, while John had some hot spots, but for the most part I found him boring. Though the passion between them was sizzling. My favorite character was Squeak, the dog, he was a total wuss of a Great Dane, but he seemed so sweet.

  9. THE CAPTAIN OF ALL PLEASURES, Sutherland Bros. Book 1, by Kresley Cole, historical, Victorian England/open seas, Rating: B

  10. SUGAR DADDY by Lisa Kleypas, Contemporary, Rating: A...not your typical romance, it was nothing like I had expected and I found it a refreshing change. First person is not my favorite perspective to read, in fact I usually avoid it, but Lisa Kleypas made it work for me. Her storyline and characters captivated me from the start. While at first I was leary of where the story was going, soon I was so enthralled, I just couldn't wait to see how it all unfolded!

  11. IN BED WITH THE DEVIL ARC, available July 2008 by Lorraine Heath, historical, Rating B+...I liked Catherine's independent personality, and her unwillingness to back down from a challenge. I also liked the passion and intensity she showed for those she loved. The desire between Lucian and Catherine was all consuming. I thought they made an excellent couple. I was irritated with Lucian's continued stance that he was going to marry Frannie, I could understand his feelings, but I thought it was drug out to long. I'm sure that after his feelings for Catherine intensified he could see that what he felt for Frannie was more of a sibling love.

  12. AFTER THE KISS, Notorious Gentleman Book 1 ARC, available July 2008 by Suzanne Enoch, Rating: C+, while I liked the plot and I liked Sullivan & Isabel, I only felt a lukewarm chemistry between them. I loved the secondary characters of Sullivan's friend Bram and Isabel's brother Douglas.

  13. ONE OF THE GUYS by Shiloh Walker, Ellora's Cave eBook,Rating: A+... I really liked Jaynie and Brian, and felt as if they were people I knew. I thought they were perfect for each other. I also like how they were able to show Dean how Jaynie had moved on with her life.

  14. BLAZE OF LIGHTNING ROAR OF THUNDER ARC, available August 2008 by Helen A. Rosburg, Historical/Western, Rating: C...another story with the potential for a great story, but it just fell way short, there was too much skipping ahead into the future, that I was unable to really feel anything between Blaze & Bane

  15. HIS WICKED SINS ARC, available August 2008 by Eve Silver, Historical, Rating A...I love the Gothic feel of her writing. Beth and Griffin each had their own horrors and ghosts in their pasts that they had mostly succeeded in overcoming, giving them a better understanding of each other. I liked them for their flaws and the strength they'd shown in overcoming their fears and anxieties. I loved how images of the past were interwoven throughout the story giving us clues to the past. Another great thing about this book was that I was so far off in my guesses as to who the madman was, it was someone that I never even thought to expect. I love a mystery that I cannot immediately identify the villain. Ms. Silver did a great job casting shadows on various characters, including the hero, which really made me wonder.
