Im Reed, a 21 year old with broad interests. Interesting, fun, and exciting. I am all about extreme sports.
Mountain boarding is an entirely different sport from snowboarding, people only compare them because mountain boarding seems like something you could do in the snowboarding off seasons. They both ride differently, and a spill on a mountain board doesn't even compare to landing on soft snow, which is why wearing pads is highly recommended.
The world literally becomes your playground if you own a mountain board, you don't have to wait for the first snowfall to tear up slopes or bomb down streets, all it takes is a willing soul to try it with the right gear of course and you'll be hooked.
Some mountain boards even come with a hand brake system which will allow you to control the speed of your ride and give anyone a chance to enjoy the sport safely and at their own pace. As you get better with a mountain board you learn how to stop without the brake system by powersliding.
The sport is huge overseas in places like the UK and is slowly gaining popularity in the U.S. through companies like Ground Industries and MBS.
Their are now boardercross and big air events that take place across the u.s. and have a wide range of classes for skill levels.

Don't know anything about mountainboarding? Check out this brief mountainboarding introduction
I got around to making my own profile on ATB Riders. The site is the first social networking place for mountainboarders around the world.
So far most of the ATB Rider population consists of mountainboarders from the UK. I am amazed at the popularity of mountainboarding in other parts of the world... apparently mountainboarding is still pretty new in the U.S.
Well anyway, ATB Rider is a great website to share mountainboarding pictures, mountainboarding videos, find mountainboarding events, read about mountainboarding gear, and of course chat with other mountainboarders.
