It was announced earlier this week that the Danish company ESNation turned MYM into a franchise, with the franchisee being Frontspawn taking over all the squads and players of the club. The dedicated Warcraft 3 scene had brought forth great faith in managing director
Ronnie 'TwaizZ' Jelsbak in returning the top RTS players to MYM. The community tried hard and expressed, in hundreds of comments across all the eSport pages, about wanting to cheer and support MYM players again.
Just yesterday, Frontspawn answered all of those requests and announced that the saga of MYM.WC3 will indeed continue, with the 'King Of Orcs'
MYM]Grubby becoming the first official player and team captain, while
MYM]Cassandra is slated to take over the team management.
Obviously, one player cannot really form a whole team, especially when the WC3L requests a minimum roster of three players. To that end, MYM.WC3 has now decided to add the young Undead player
Dmitry 'Happy' Kostin to their lineup.
Recently, Happy has expressed in an interview that an excellent team atmosphere is more important for him than becoming rich from playing Warcraft 3. During the PGL Finals earlier this year in China, it became obvious that the Russian player and Grubby share a great mutual understanding.
Happy became popular when he joined the team of mousesports back in 2006. He was ranked first in the Battle.net ladder and performed exceptionally well in team leagues such as the WC3L. Last year, he won the Battle.net Season 6 Europe finals and knocked out players such as ToD, Lucifron and SaSe while placing third in the overall finals. 2008 was a fine year for the young Undead as he was able to place third in the WCG in Cologne behind Grubby and Moon.
Now, a new era begins for Happy - so let's give him a warm welcome to MYM!
Dmitry 'Happy' Kostin, MYM Warcraft 3 player:
"Today is a great day in my gaming career. For 6 months I was clanless, trying to achieve the best results I could on every tournament I have attended. I had no support, no bright future, it was a hard time for me but it passed on to a good note for me.
And today I am glad to be announced as a player of new MYM.wc3 team, I think it is one of the biggest steps in my gaming career I have ever made to establish my gaming activities. Therefore, I am looking forward to show the best results possible in all the tourneys/matches I will be playing in. I believe with MYM support I can reach any great results I always was aiming for. Also, apart from my own ambitions of being strong solo player, I am looking forward to make MYM the best team in all the team competitions we may attend."
Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen, MYM Warcraft 3 captain:
"Happy has shown to have all the makings of a star player. He's hard-working, motivated, stubborn (usually in a good way), shows no fear, knows what he wants and goes for what he wants. Happy is showing strong performances nearly every LAN he's attended: 4th Place Intel Extreme Masters II, 3rd Place WCG 2008, 1st Place Season 6 Europe Regionals, 3rd Place Blizzcon Season 6... only just the beginning. I believe both Happy and MYM can grow from this co-operation... and I’m looking forward to fighting side-by-side with him in the coming WC3L season!"
Cassandra NG, MYM Warcraft 3 manager:
"Happy takes his progaming job seriously and this is a very important consideration when it comes to choosing a second player for our team. If there are only two players in the WC3L line-up, then each player will influence the outcome by 60%. Happy has proven himself to be a strong player and I am sure he will work hard together with Grubby to bring our team to the play-offs. Happy is also with no doubt the best Russian player at the moment. I am looking forward to see more Russian fans cheering for MYM!"

Great news for all the MYM and Warcraft 3 fans, alike! Frontspawn has decided to open a Warcraft 3 team. With their full attention on managing the players and teams, their plans for 2009 and beyond seem to be taking shape.

Yesterday it was announced ESNation turned MYM into a franchise, with the franchisee of Frontspawn taking over all the squads and players of the club. Some people may have been curious what this might exactly entail for the community. Concisely, it means different people will be leading the MYM teams. For the community, it just means that there will be another management team behind MYM's players, who hopefully can make many steps in the right direction.
Now, it has become clear that there is already one big difference with Frontspawn. When they acquired the franchise of the MYM brand from ESNation, one of their plans was to open a Warcraft 3 team. For the past few weeks, they've been working in secret on setting up a sound strategy to do this.

Today, myMYM.com can proudly announce that they are ready: MYM.WC3 will be making a return!
Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen, someone who does not need an introduction for any Warcraft 3, MYM or eSports fan, has decided to partner up with Frontspawn, as he will be making a return to the MYM team! This time, Schenkhuizen will be the captain of MYM.WC3. He will be helping the management and the WC3 manager with his extensive knowledge of the Warcraft 3 scene, to find players who can complete the team, and make it a force to be reckoned with.
For the Warcraft 3 managerial position, Frontspawn has enlisted the services of
Cassandra Ng. Besides being the manager for MYM.WC3, she will also be Grubby's personal manager. She will also be part of exciting plans in the future which are yet to be revealed.
Welcome back MYM.WC3, welcome MYM]Grubby, welcome Cassandra Ng!
Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen, MYM Warcraft 3 player:
"I'm very excited about the new developments in MYM and Frontspawn's interest in Warcraft 3. Ronnie ‘twaizz' Jelsbak and Nicolas ‘pops' Estrup are two young individuals full of great new ideas and enthusiasm. eSports needs people like this to move us forward, and I believe their full concentration on the players and the team can bring Frontspawn and MYM to the next level this year. For me personally, I am very happy to join them in their quest for world domination. I have high expectations of our partnership and being the team captain of the WC3 Squad, the manager and me will assist the management in searching for the perfect 2nd and 3rd player we need in order to be not only successful at WC3L, but also have a strong position on the scene in general. I would like to thank all the fans for urging MYM to take back the WC3 squad, it seems your positive energy and pleas have not fallen upon deaf ears. I guess all the comments with "you sonsofbitches" worked! Let's give them another chance."
Ronnie 'TwaizZ' Jelsbak, managing director Frontspawn ApS:
"Today, I am very pleased and proud to announce the signing of Manuel ‘Grubby' Schenkhuizen. For many years, Warcraft 3 has been a big part of MYM, and I intend to ensure this will continue by taking this big step.
I am very pleased with reaching an agreement with Grubby, as I have, for a long time, seen him as an icon of the Warcraft 3 scene. He is a very professional player both inside and outside of the game, and I am really looking forward to working with him.
At the same time, I have chosen to bring back Cassandra Ng, again as a columnist, but also this time as the personal manager of Grubby. She has done a great job in the past, and I am sure that will also continue with her new assignments."

Big thanks to my readers!
This is my last column in MYM. Firstly, I would like to thank all my beloved readers who followed my blogs and articles on myMYM.com the past year. It has been a very lovely experience and journey for me. I have enjoyed sharing stories of Grubby, friends, and personal experiences at events, be it funny or memorable. It has been a great pleasure writing for such great fans and enthusiastic audience. I have been truly happy interacting with my readers in my column and articles.. and also reading all the lovely and funny comments that brought warmth to my heart. At first, I thought I am lucky enough having someone so special to share my life with, and then I found I am even luckier than I thought, because we both could share our life with so many wonderful fans and readers. We will never forget this phase in our life. With so many fans and friends behind us, we never once felt like we were alone.
The Hit Of The News
When we first heard the news yesterday afternoon, we were both very disappointed. We were quite surprised because it was quite sudden. The news got brought to us by phone, straight after the MYM board meeting. "MYM Warcraft got laid off?" It sounds like a nightmare. And as soon as the news was told, that was also our last of work.. the last day that Grubby will wear the MYM tag. It's true.. Warcraft III was voted off by the MYM board.
Since one month ago or so, there were talks of keeping only 1-3 players in the team.. but closing the whole Warcraft III team altogether was unheard of. "Is this a mistake?", we thought. After getting over the surprise, we tried to understand the decision. E-Sports is becoming more like a profit making business. Warcraft III team has high expenses compared to other games like DOTA and so on. Thus, overall, Warcraft III does not generate enough or expected profits for the company, despite having two world class star players. Keeping lower cost teams/games will ensure the profit margin to be higher. Every investor wants to see figures.. and according to the figures, Warcraft III only generate 20% of the traffic in myMYM.com. It is understandable why the investors came to this conclusion. It is their money that they are investing after all, and they have the right to invest in whichever games that generate them the most profit.
On another note, I find it hard to believe that Warcraft III is unpopular or dying. Just look at the amount of fans! It's still the game with the most tournaments each year! It was also the most popular game at WCG 2008. Just because Starcraft II might be coming out soon, doesn't mean Warcraft III will die off. In my opinion, they are two very different games and they can definitely co-exist.
Big Thanks to MYM
Nevertheless, MYM had been a nice home for us the past year. It had been so nice hanging out with the team and getting to know them - Losemann and Nordahl, Susiria, Lucifer, Moon and Soccer. It was also really special meeting MYM CEO - Henrik Stampe - who came to the WCG Grand Finals in Cologne. Big thanks to Mercy who made the Warcraft III Team possible in the first place. It must be very sad for him as well, to lose his beloved team. We wish everyone all the best in whatever they do in the future. Thanks for all the wonderful memories. :)
Will Grubby continue his progaming career?
Today is his first day out in the market as a free agent. Perhaps if he gets an offer that makes it possible to continue doing what he loves, he might go for it. If not, retiring from progaming is the next option. All biases aside, I sincerely think that his retirement will not only be a great loss to the Warcraft scene, but also to e-Sports in general. He is not just a star player, not just the most accomplished Warcraft III progamer, most importantly, he is a role model. He's good in everything from gaming, to writing, to talking, to entertaining.. (except singing :p). He is what promotes e-Sports and put e-Sports in a good light.
Even if Grubby retires from progaming, it's not the end of the world. I'm sure he will find something else. With a trophy collection like this from his 5 year progaming career, such great accomplishments, and a huge loyal fan base, Grubby would walk away with his head high, and many worthy stories to tell his grandchildren. It has all been worth it.
Goodbye my friends!
