1889 : sir Charles Spencer Chaplin born on April 16 into a family of indigent artists. First stage appearance at age 5. At 17 became staring comedian in a vaudeville troup.
1913 : While on a U.S. tour Chaplin was discovered by Mack Sennett, head of Keystone Pictures , and hired for slapstick comedies.
1920 : "The Kid", Chaplin's first feature film, became an international success.
1925 : "The Gold Rush"
1927 :" The circus"
1928: he recieved an honorary Oscar at the first Oscar Award presentation.
1936 :"Modern Times"
1940 : "The Greate Dictator"
1967 : Received a second honorary Oscar
1977 : Charles Spencer Chaplin died in his home on lake Geneva
