It’s raining today; the blues are on the radio. It is one of those days you really don’t feel like doing a dam thing. You could look over an on line magazine such as Fox Chase Review or purchase a new book Broken Shells and Hope . I continue work on a new manuscript but cannot devote much time to it as I cannot sit for long. It’s raining today, the rhythm of the rain patters on the windows, peaceful indeed. The blues are suddenly replaced with “Amos Otis” by Jerry Reed how fitting on a rainy day, he died this week, he was an exceptional guitar player and song writer.
McCain-Palin and O’Bama-Biden, it sure looks like it will be a horse race this time around. I truly believe these four folks will make this the most exciting race in decades. Either way another decedent of the Scots-Irish will be President.
Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae will be seized by the government…. Greed really took it’s toll this time.
Some Odd News:
Police in New Jersey kicked in a door after hearing cries for help… this may just make you smile NJ cops kick in door over bird's cries for help and always remember don’t piss off commuters Angry Argentine commuters torch train in rush hour A loved one returns to visit the family Cremated" father reunited with family and please don’t piss off smokers Ex-boxing champ shot dead in smoking dispute
Have a great weekend and remember someone once said, “A well read man is someone who has a lot of books”.
There is no doubt Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin are complete opposites when it comes to politics. Over the last two days it is very apparent they have more in common when it comes to the media. Coverage of both candidates has a heavy misogynist tone to the reporting. When O’Bama announced the selection of Joe Biden, a good man, for the Vice Presidential nomination his past infractions were glossed over, in fact Biden even stated “look at what I have done since then”.
Palin comes to us from a family with a working class background; she deals with family issues daily including her daughter who was unfairly attacked by these same misogynist media types.
Sarah Palin represents many everyday Americans. She handles family problems with dignity and privacy when at all possible. She stood by her daughter and her husband. The elitist media frenzy and attacks should give cause for embarrassment, but they know none.
History awaits us in November. O’Bama-Biden and McCain-Palin, politics will not be the same no matter which candidate wins. Just as the bigots who oppose O’Bama because of his mixed descent should be called to task, so should the misogynists who freely attack Palin.
The misogynist masturbators should come to terms, change is coming to Washington D.C. with a victory of one ticket or the other. If they don’t mature they will be left in the dust of bigotry.

Keep the Gulf Coast and midland in your thoughts today as Gustav hits. It appears local and state governments have their act together with FEMA. We must hope for the best outcome after this violent storm hits the coast.
It is hard to believe summer is just about over. Time moved quickly or it seemed for time is always constant, maybe we are just moving quickly. The last year has been full of challenges and change. I won’t get into that now, it may just be very boring. The release of Fox Chase Review yesterday has met with early compliments, the only negative was repaired and this on line magazine features excellent poets and has a good look to it.
What I am Reading:
“Harsh World and Other Poems” by Angel Gonzalez translated by Donald D. Walsh
“The Unknown Poe- Fugitive Writings” released by City Light Books.
“Stroking The Air” by Eileen Carney Hulme
“Best American Poetry 2004”
News:
The cover design for “Blue Collar Poet-Selected Poems 1994-2008” was recently completed and it looks great. This book will be released by Stone Garden . net publishing in February 2009.
I have work forthcoming at a few publications and will publish them when they are available. Until then you can always have a look at Broken Shells and Hope
MacGregor Rucker and Autumn Konopka will be reading at the Fox Chase Reading Series on September 27th. It will be an outstanding reading and if history dictates some excellent poets will read at the open mic. In 2009 we will have 18 poets visiting us in Fox Chase.
