Hollywood
I just can't help but sit and watch as Hollywood (and High Society) continue to be the leaders for the moral fabric of our nation. When the world is more interested in a snooty bitches real bummer of a jail sentence than doing something productive, then you know the end has got to be near. Stories of the day, at odds with Russia, genocide in Africa, rising costs of fuel and food, no relief in sight for the "middle class", but what do the news stations use as lead story.....Paris Hilton. Then, let's toss in a little Lohan action, maybe see what other "stars" can be discussed then we can get to the weather and the news. Since when has this been real news? I am pretty sure that there are plently of tabloid shows, websites, and so ons. So why do we have to continue to watch the tv in hopes that Ms. Spears either gets her crap together or tosses out another peek at her kitty-kat. I mean really, there are so many other important things in this world than giving a shit if another spoiled little dumbass is drinking too much. I know I don't care, and neither should most people. Of course I don't wish it upon them, however, at the same time, I'm not going to pop them a call and tell them to straighten up for the love of God so the rest of us can move on with our lives.

Fred Thompson for President

Well, I have to say that Fred Thompson running for President may change my views a little. First of all, he knows what to say and how to handle the masses of people craving the days of well spoken Presidents. Let's face it, we haven't had one since Clinton left office and before taht would be Reagan. Thompson has a lot in personal and professional commonalities with Reagan. Don't get me wrong, I know that Reagan just about ran us into the poorhouse, but at least we felt good on the way there. I will be keeping an eye on this particular candidate just because he is such a likeable guy and is truly more down to earth than most of the others. The Dems are throwing out Clinton, OBama, and Edwards to the forefront. All are very interesting, but I am not sure how I really feel about them. Sure, it would be interesting if Clinton gets the nod, ya know first female Pres and the Ex-Pres is now the First Husband. Maybe he could handle some of the foreign affair issues we have, ya know, like the one where everybody on the planet hates the US. He could fly out to some of these countries, meet the heads of state, smoke some weed, play the sax, and maybe get them to change their policy towards the US. Obama is interesting as well, but I think he is 1 - 2 terms out before he moves up to the top spot. And that leaves Edwards. I'm really lukewarm on that one, I mean hell he kicked in the sympathy card way early in the ride. No warm and fuzzy there.

Then the Reps have McCain and Guililani apparently in the lead. McCain has had several good points about how things should work over the years, but he rarely manages to get anything done. He also tends to show his short temper at the most public time possible. I do believe in the guy, but not sure if a short tempered fella with the "key code" is the right person to be Pres. Then Rudy, what to say about Rudy. Well, that's a tough one too. He did do great things for NYC and took them from the pits to be a vital city after years of decline. He also has all of that free publicity from the 911 attacks. But his foreign affair experience will be subpar.

This all seems to be heading to one direction, Thompson versus Gore. There has been a semi-quiet movement to get Gore back on the ticket and let's face it, he is on top of the world for once. He couldn't be in a better position than he is right now. He is from the "Clinton Era" and would give people that feeling without having to ingest that whole Hilliary thing.

Funny thing is that the two top people from the two top parties are Hollywood. Gore and his recent award winning film and Thompson with several TV shows and movies. They have facetime, more importantly, free airtime, very free. People talk about them without them asking. What could be better for these two people?

Iraq
Well, I have been rather quiet on this subject, especially since it's such a split country. But, I have to say, it's time to bring our military home. Maybe...just maybe....go back to Afganistan and find Bin Laden and call it a day. I do personally know people who have been there and from my perspective it's time to let that country stand or fall on its own. What started out as a "justified" witch hunt has produced nothing other than several thousand Americans dead. I knew one soldier that is now no longer with us and he was a good kid, trying to make his way through college and his fiancee' was pregnant. One roadside bomb later....he's gone. I now another that is like a son to both my wife and I, and he was stuck in the search for Bin Laden then got transferred to Iraq. Thank God he pulled his time and has returned safely. How many other people need to die for a cause that was never the country's cause? The man is dead, hanged as evidenced in the video, but what did that really accomplish? His time is done, no more paying for his sins, soul freed and left to be dealy with in the afterlife, if there really is one. He should have been left in a cell for the rest of his natural life. I realize that some people need to be executed, as a matter of fact I have become a huge believer in capital punishment. This goes double for any crime against children. Sorry, getting off subject..... we need to regain our focus as a country, help ourselves for once. I realize that war has typically been an economic stimulus and to some degree it was this time as well, but this wasn't what was needed. People need help at home. Bring them home to protect us from ourselves in some cases, gangs being a growing problem. Let the military handle it and let the police do what they need. But I have to be honest with you, if I were in a gang and I knew that the seals were coming after me, then I might be inclined to get out of the gang. These guys don't play and they shouldn't, not with those type of "people".

iPhone
Well another day and another million dollars for Apple. It amazes me how the American consumer will jump at whatever comes their way, especially if there's a big name and status attached. Remember the RAZR and how much of a statement of status it was? Now, of course you can get the darn things cheaper than gum. The amount of people that are going to flood the market so they can have the first batch will be huge, no doubt. But the big question is, why? Why spend $500 for something that really in essence already exists? I realize that technology is advancing but it doesn't matter if the device is better if the system that supports isn't. I have looked at some the phone from overseas and it's amazing what they can do for a cheaper price. As consumers we are just making these companies so much richer and by falling for marketinig gimmicks and product names we just make ourselves even more susceptable to further gouging. OK, I feel better now.
