Telling it like it is Full Post View | List View

I live in Houston and I am a huge sports fan. Naturally, I go for the Good Guys, Texans, Rockets, & Astros.

A father, son, and some popcorn
As a grown man with a son of my own some things about your youth you never forget. Every year around this time I think back to my first ever Astros game, just me & my dad. I remember every detail except for one, the final score. The line wasnt moving fast enough moving slower than a turtle. The closer I get the stronger the popcorn and warm pretzels smell. finally, we go thru the turnstiles as my dad hands the ticket person our ticket. And there, right in front of my face I couldnt believe my eyes. The field itself, the excitment in the air, and the fact that itwa just me and my dad. Poor guy loves baseball and here is this kid wanting to go to the restroom every 10 min. I must have asked a million questions that day and he answered everyone. Every five minutes I begged my dad to get a foul ball for me. Every five minutes I asked for an overpriced snack or drink. Hat a guy he was and is to this day. Today its the same feeling as I had that day and everyday in between. Now its me and my son and yes the cycle continues, the restroom breaks, the million questions, everything. The same feeling as i had as kid is the same feeling myson must have. Thank God for baseball. He too, must have the same feeling.

Two tickets to opening day
Hello baseball fans and welcome to another year of Major League Baseball. It's that time of year and what a time it is. Americas National Pastime. Remember back to the first game you went to. Just you and your dad at the park. You hand your ticket, pass through the turnstiles and there it is. The greatest sight that a boy under 16 could ever imagine. The grass is so green and the popcorn smell never goes away. Wait, you look out on the field with amazement and off to the side you see your favorite player surrounded by kids wanting an autograph. The National Anthem always sounds better at the ballgame. This is a day no kid, boy or girl, will ever forget. The mascots being silly and throwing t-shirts, baseballs, and your dad catches one, looks down and hands you the ball. He smiles and winks at you, what a guy. there is no way this day could get any better. Then you realize, the game hasnt even started. This happened to me as my dad took me to the Astrodome and there was Pete Rose facing Nolan Ryan as we sat in the first row right behind Houstons dugout. I swear this feeling never goes away no matter how old you are. Now my son and i are repeating the cycle. PLAY BALL! what up E.A.?
