Everything that is past is either a learning experience to grow on, a beautiful memory to reflect on, or a motivating factor to act upon. -- Denis Waitley Reply
It's all about anything and everything I've experienced or done... simple! :-)
What's up with these people? Mind you, I seem to notice that you're likely to see a man (no matter of race, nationality or 'class') pick on their nose more often in public rather than a woman.
I had to write something about this, because I just cringe at the sight of them doing so!
You see them in the skytrain, on the road, the restaurant and the sidewalk.
I know everyone does this, I do so, too... but I just can't bear doing that in public. I'd rather do that in the washroom of a public place or in my own home. For that matter, when I am at home, I still go to the bathroom to 'clean' my nose then wash my hands!
I mean, I see these people digging their noses, and they don't even wipe their finger into a tissue or 'Wet Ones' tissue. Eck!
After that, what do they do? They hold the hand rail (in a skytrain), or even shake the hands of people they're probably going to meet afterwards! Oh my!
What a nasty habit!
Oh well... that goes along with spitting...exactly the same nasty habit that men like doing. Eck!
Mind you, some women do spit anywhere, too.
Like in Shanghai, my husband relayed this story to me. He was staying in a 5-star hotel in Shanghai on business. So, one night, while waiting for his colleagues in the lobby of the hotel, he noticed a very beautiful, tall Chinese lady walk into the hotel lobby, dressed elegantly. She drew the attention of many men in the hotel. But... about five minutes later, while she seemed to be waiting to meet with someone, she just suddenly spat! And for goodness sake... she spat onto the carpet in the lobby of the hotel! Eck!!! How uncouth and unhygenic!
Wouldn't it be nice if people were just more considerate in matters of this nature?
I'd surely appreciate it, if there were less spitting and nose digging, in public.
Well, in the end, it's just my honest opinion. ![]()
Well, It's cloudy today, a definite promise of heavy rain over Bangkok.
I finished my Thai Class at 12.15 pm and yet I couldn't go home straight, since I am also waiting to collect my jeans, which I sent for alterations.
It's quite a facinating idea to see alot of 'mobile' alteration shops here. These are women with their old-fashioned singer sewing machine strategically placed along street corners or situated along side streets.
It must be a booming business, and they're so cheap! To alter the length of a trouser you only pay 20.00 Baht! If I went to the alteration shop inside Emporium Shopping Complex, it will cost me 200.00 Baht for the same thing!
Anyway, while I waited, I decided to go across from the building I was in, The Glas Haus Bldg. There's a quaint Italian Restaurant called 'Pizza Aroy'.
I went inside to have a drink and review my Thai Lanaguage notes.
Well, within 5 minutes...an Italian man came up to me to chat (he's the owner, as it turns out)... Anyway, he started by asking if I were studying Thai, then, of course, asked me where I'm from, etc...
Ok, so he started to chat me up...what I find incredible about it, is not so mainly on the fact that he is... it's the fact that this seems to happen to me, more often than not.
I mean... it's not that I'm implying anything more than it should...I'm just saying that, I tend to meet people that seems to open up and tell me their whole life story within 5 mintues!
And they don't have to be men. I experience this with women, too. Like 3 weeks ago, I went into another restaurant, a Filipino restaurant. I met the owners (a married couple). Next thing I know... they're relating to me how they are so disappointed in their daughter-in-law! I mean I have no idea who they're even talking about!
So...it makes me wonder, if I make these people tell me about their life or do I just attract people who like to talk about themselves? Another common factor is that I meet them in a restuarant. They could either be the owner, or an employee, or the musician.
Hmmmm...
Well, I haven't had the time to update my blog in almost a month!
Last 22nd October - 29 October, I had a couple who came down from Paris for a week's holiday here. It was good to catch up with my good friend Neeza and met her French boyfriend of 11 months. Oh! we had a lot of shopping and eating to do while they were here. They even had a chance to go off to Koh Samet for a few days of sun & sea.
Right after that... on the same day that my firends leave (29th Oct), another friend from Kuala Lumpur arrive...to stay until the 6th Nov. It was another week of shopping and walking and enjoying Thai food.
It's been a hectic, tiring but fun 2 weeks of entertaining and it's been bliss to just go for an hour at the spa near our apartment with my husband. Great bliss!
Well, I've got another set of visitors coming around on Christmas until the New Year....I better start preparations for a good feast!
But before that... we're off to Australia for a pre-Christmas holiday on the 23rd Nov - 20 December. I'm supposed to follow my husband on the same day he leaves but as luck would have it, my passport is only ready for collection on the 23rd Nov itself at 3.00 pm while the flight is at 12.00am, the same day. So, I resigned to the fact that I might as well go at least 10 days later and fly back together on the 20th December.
