The name on my daughter's birth certificate is Elise, although we rarely ever call her that.  I thought I'd share with you some fun nicknames we've come up with so far.

Ellie/Ellie Girl/Miss Ellie - Ellie is a shortened version of Elise, obviously
Bug - Because she's as cute as (or cuter than) one. This is what we call her most!
Woodpecker - When she's hungry, she'll peck at your chest, even if you don't have milk to offer
Chicken - She gets hiccups about 5 times a day and sounds like barking poultry
Smackey - It's the sound she sometimes makes when feeding
Pooper - She's really good at letting it rip, especially when people are holding her

It's 1 AM.  For the first time since we came home from the hospital, Chris and Ellie are sound asleep before 5:30 AM.  It's amazing how such a simple thing as this can make me so happy.  Life is good, and I'm off to join my girls in dreamland.

Well, it's been over 24 hours since we brought Ellie home, but it seems like a week! We just love looking at her, holding her, and discovering new things about her.  Today, the dimple above her lip and the bridge on her nose surfaced.

It probably feels like a week because we have baby lag (kinda like jet lag, except it's caused by a baby, not a jet).  This girl must be on Fiji time or something, as she was up until 5:30 AM.  She sure did wear us out!  Nana (Todd's Mom) was gracious enough to take her at 5:30, after which she (and we) slept quite well for about 4 hours.

She really likes to eat, sleep, and be held.  We're trying to get her used to other activities, like chilling on her own.  Overall, she's a beauty, a pleasure, a treasure.  We can't wait for you to meet her!
