Surviving Economic Downturn

So Here I am,

Since February 26th, 2009 it has now been 2 months and 16 days. OR you could say, it's been 75 days since I came home from becoming a statistic of the economic downturn.

My accomplishments to date: Began using Vista on a more regualr basis / Downloaded Microsoft Virtual PC / VM Ware Server / Windows Server 2008 / Hyper V / Microsoft Exchange, along with updates to the other operating systems on my mutli partitions PC. I also upgraded the amount of memory from 1gb of Ram to 4gb. Wow what a difference it makes when running virtual pc software.

Why all the software you might ask.

Good question. The answer is because I'm in the I.T Industry with only a couple of certification credentials.

Now my goal is to refresh my memory of Windows Server 2003 (Maintaining a Server Infrastructure & Maintaining a Server Environment) and now I've accomplished that, I'll be moving onto Server 2008 which will defintely provide me with many challenges.

I went to a job fair at Microsoft Canada last week to find out a company is offering a Server Administrator boot camp for 10 days. I thought, Great! I can do that and write the exam and have my next certification in no time.

That is, until I found out the cost of $8000!!! Wtf- Holy shiet!

Once I was able to recover from the shock, it gave me the necessary motivation to obtain the MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional) certification.

Now an MCITP won't be completed until I've passed another exam. I've chosen the Microsoft Exchange Server because not only am I interested in the software, but I've noticed many employers looking for this experience.

Last week, I completed working with Server 2003. Now the challenge begins with Server 2008 with Hyper V. Since I've downloaded the software, it's just going to take time.

I give myself the rest of this week to complete 2008 before moving on to Exchange.

After that, hopefully the IT job market heats up. We'll have to see what happens next.

See you on the FlipSide....

Just over 2 yrs
Just over 2 yrs magnify

Time flies when you're working hard and playing even harder!

I noticed, its been just over 2 years since my last blog entry!! WTF I say to myself.

It looks as though many many people have visited this personal site of mine, however I don't receive too many comments about my point of view, opinions or jack shit as a matter of fact.

In the two year hiatus, I've partied hard, met lots of interesting people, bought a full suspension bike, built up tonnes of confidence, did a lot of dragon boating all over Ontario, witnessed the birth of my brothers twins, travelled to Vancouver, Mexico twice.

This is only the beginning.

There's a big huge WORLD out there, we are but just occupying a small particle of this great land.

My plans for the futre are to keep working hard, play smarter, excersize well & tone my body, consider running another marathon, see relatives in Europe , start a family.

More importantly I'll make a sinscere effort to contact poeple from my past, make amends in an attempt to be friends.

Disposition & Misdirection
Misdirection: What the eyes see, the ears hear, the mind believes. How does this tie into Disposition. REad On!!

My disposition came to be while commuting home on the East bound subway car sitting in the first seat facing the westerly direction.

Not only was I able to see where I've been, I was able to see where I was going despite facing the opposite direction.

It a real inexpensive head trip without the drug or alcohol induced feeling. All of this courtesy of glass and mirrors giving way to the illusion of reflections moving towards you inside the subway car.

So for all of you who ride from Kipling station, take a trip in the first car and see what I'm talking about. Free your mind. Existentialism is out there. Think outside the box. FREE YOUR MIND!

Best Christmas Ever!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Yaar (Dutch version) to all those who continuously view my blog site, now serving 2100+.

The past year had several challenges based on some of my previous blogs. Maybe it's life without Julie factor playing a strong part, but I strongly believe its more about what I have accomplished on my own. A sense of worth if you will, and having a heightened sensibility of all else that surrounds me being alive. Everything has a life force, how you feel it is the way you experience it.
Now I'm not going to go on about Zen this and that, but it's just how I'm touching, sensing, and feeling the way I live in the world. I'm no longer flying blind.

How does this tie into the best Christmas ever. After watching Blood Diamond and seeing how the people of Africa were treated as slaves in their own country made me feel extremely angry. In addition, I volunteered my time with a non profit organization called " Free The Children" which have been doing their part to save children from child labor areas of the world.
Simply putting it, it made me realize how much I take for granted with the world we live in. Do do my part I'll be making a donation that will make a difference to people who need it more than me.
On top of that, my family decided not to exchange gifts from the hat. Instead we enjoyed each others company as it is the greatest gift one can receive.

So next year take into consideration how much you're Christmas expenditures are and take into account families who would make the most of your donation of a goat, water well in their community.
This is only my thoughts, and if 1000 more people read my blog this year a difference will be made.
WHAT DO YOU think?? Think you can make a difference this year? PROVE IT!
