Here's a place to share my thoughts on the books I read, movies I see, or anything that inspires me.
OK, so I've joined the world of myspace. I never thought it would happen, but then I found so many of my long lossed high school classmates that I've become addicted. I've started an active blog on my myspace page. Please feel free to meander over here: myspace.com/geofreak2050
Class is over and I'm taking a break. I need to get in shape. Summer's coming and...OH MY GOD...Nothing fits. Shorts...not ready for that. I'm hitting the pavement with my MTB's and we'll be in shape in no time. Now if I could only wake up a bit earlier so I could actually make the run. It'll happen. I'm motivated. It's time to focus on a healthy me.
Depending on what time I ride into work each day, I end up with a different crowd. This morning, it was a group of teenagers. I learned a lesson on perspective and had the opportunity to enjoy the irony of it all.
Boy1: "Yeah, I saw the whole thing. I wuzzen gonna tell the pooolice though. I was sittin right on my front step when I heard it. POP then, like AHHHHH"
Boy2: "Das it"
Boy1: "Das it nigga! I don't wanna be no part of it. Dat shit was suckin. I threw my gun way far on the grass. I don't want no pooolice askin me nut'n"
Later: I hear a snippet of another conversation
Boy1: "Nigga you goin' downtown? Das where all those crazy ass people be hangin."
Boy2: "Yeah, das where I be headin."
In downtown Sacramento there are a number of transients who walk the streets. The craziest they get, though is a lot nonsense talk. I am stunned that this kid isn' t afraid to carry a weapon and witnesses a murder near his own front steps, yet he's afraid of some harmless crazy people.
